This Fall, It’s All About the Fashion Blanket

[ad_1]

Fall is here, and that crisp autumn chill is right around the corner. Perhaps you already have picked out a funky cardigan sweater, an easy-to-wear blazer, or any number of fly and fall-ready wares. If so, good on you! But what about your home—do you have a cozy blanket on deck? If not, you’re in luck because the latest collections from several designers and labels have revealed a grip of high-style throws for your choosing.

The designer-co-signed blanket has been trending upwards for the past few years. Especially the homey quilt. Designer Emily Bode stormed the scene and took the crafty vibe from dusty antique shops to in-demand fashion. During the short-lived Raf Simons era of Calvin Klein, the Kardashians were made to pose with quilts that you can now find heavily discounted at Nordstrom Rack. And while the quilted home-core aesthetic has only grown in influence, blankets of other types have started to pop up on shelves. And the best blankets of the season don’t feel like trend hopping but rather a natural extension of the brands that make them.

The lavish blankets from Los Angeles-based The Elder Statesman, a label that started out making luxurious throws but is now best known for its tripped-out (yet still luxurious) cashmere sweaters, are sure to stop any houseguests in their tracks. A handknit crochet blanket features more colors than one can count, and another features bright stripes and oversized stitching. (An added bonus: pillows and cushions.) This down-filled nylon blanket from Rick Owens looks like one of the designer’s more avant-garde coats. Both JW Anderson and Loewe (labels that share a creative-crafts-loving creative director in Jonathan Anderson) include attention-grabbing blankets in their collections. One can find blankets from every corner of the fashion spectrum: upcycling-centric designer Greg Lauren to timeless basics brand A.P.C. to streetwear staple Stüssy.

Who else but Rick Owens?

The most refreshing part of this whole thing is that most aren’t playing into the quilted home-core look, but instead producing blankets and throws that fit within their established brand universe. So, if you happen to love Stüssy’s graphic tees, you’re likely to be into their billiards-adorned blanket. A fan of JW Anderson’s funky knitwear? Then the brand’s arty wool throw is probably for you. Think of it as the cool sweater for your couch. Colder weather tends to mean more time indoors and adding a chic blanket surefire way to level up your interiors game. Come January, you’ll be glad you did.
